One of the prominent characters in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s series is the character of Loki. Loki is played by Thomas William “Tom” Hiddleston who was born on 9 February 1981. Thomas is an English actor and is renowned for his role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has marked his appearance and made a difference in various movies like Thor (2011), The Avengers (2012), and Thor: The Dark World (2013). Apart from such movies he has also worked in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse (2011), The Deep Blue Sea (2011), Woody Allen’s romantic comedy Midnight in Paris (2011). This comprehensive actor has also appeared in the 2012 BBC series Henry IV, Henry V, and the romantic vampire film Only Lovers Left Alive (2013). Thomas William’s major success came in December 2013 when he starred as the pivotal character in the Donmar Warehouse production of Coriolanus. This movie played in theatres until February 2014 and won Thomas oodles of accolade.


Thomas has been known for his devotion and the perfection he puts in his movies. The actor won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Newcomer in a Play for his role in Cymbeline. While he won an award, he was also nominated for the same award the same year for his role of Cassio in Othello. Adding another feather to his hat is the Empire Award for Best Male Newcomer that he won in 2011. In the shoes of Loki, Thomas was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award for his role in Thor. The credentials of Thomas are ample in number and the actor will be remembered for ages to come.

Apart from his acting career, the actor has is also known for his narrations. Hiddleston did a voiceover for BBC’s documentary on the Galapagos Island in 2006. It was his voice that narrated the audiobook The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner in 2007. Also, Thomas Hiddleston narrated for the British Museum on the Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead in 2011 and poetry for iF Poems and The Love Book on iTunes in 2012. The upcoming 2015 documentary Unity directed by Shaun Monson that consists over 100 narrators in the film also has Hiddleston’s voice narration in it. Other voices, apart from his include those of Adam Levine, Anjelica Huston, Ben Kingsley, Cloris Leachman, Geoffrey.

Hiddleston is a self-described feminist and has worked in the field of women empowerment. Along with Benedict Cumberbatch, Jo Brand, E. L. James and Rachel Riley, Hiddleston was the one to design and sign his own card for the UK-based charity Thomas Coram Foundation for Children. Apart form all his endeavours regarding his career; Hiddleston is also a supporter of the humanitarian and developmental assistance fund group UNICEF. He has been an active participant of UNICEF and has travelled to Guinea in early 2013.
